Caledonian Canal itinerary
Corpach - Gairlochy - Laggan - Fort Augustus - Foyers - Drumnadrochit - Dores - Inverness
Overview
The Caledonian Canal in Scotland is one of the most fascinating waterways in Europe. It was built in 1822 as a shortcut between the North Sea and the Atlantic Ocean avoiding the dangerous Pentland Firth on the North coast of Scotland. The canal crosses 3 lochs, and will take you through some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland.

Corpach
The Caledonian Canal begins in the small village of Corpach near Fort William. A popular stopgap for travellers, Corpach has everything you'll need for a relaxing day before you start travelling on the canal. Don't miss the Treasures of the Earth museum. And make sure to take a walk along the shoreline of Corpach, where you'll see stunning views of Ben Nevis.
Gairlochy
The Caledonian Canal brings you to the village of Gairlochy, which lies on the southern end of Loch Lochy. From the village, you can enjoy great views on Ben Nevis, Aonach Mor and the surrounding mountains.
