Bars & Pubs

You'd be forgiven for thinking there's a drinking establishment of one form or other on every street corner in Britain – and you wouldn't be far wrong. As far back as the Roman Invasion, Britons were building dens in which to sit back with a drink or several, and the gay scene has embraced this tradition with notable flair! We just wish there were enough days in the week to road-test them all...

Queer, Manchester

Manchester (www.visitmanchester.com/Parts3.aspx?PartId=52&ExperienceId=10)
Queer (www.queer-manchester.com)
Queer by name and very gay by nature, Queer is a 'lifestyle café bar' on Manchester's LGBT high street, Canal Street. More relaxed chilling by day turns into no-holds-barred partying come nightfall, where an energetic crowd gathers to get into full-throttle clubbing mode. Home to the original 24-hour party people, Manchester certainly knows a thing or two about having a good time.

London (www.visitlondon.com/attractions/pubs_bars/gay_lesbian_bars/gay-lesbian-pubs-bars)
George and Dragon
The most fun you can have in a pub without, well, you can probably guess the rest... we defy you to come to the George and Dragon, deep in London’s fashionable East End, and leave without a smile on your face. An up-for-it, mixed crowd that spills outside on warmer nights, in a truly eccentric ol' British pub (there's even a moving horse’s head attached to the wall!). It gets busy at weekends, so arrive early if you want a table.

Wales (www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=47766605107)
Bar Icon (www.iconcardiff.com)
Spread over two floors, with the upstairs lending itself to a more intimate bar experience, Icon is one of Cardiff's most popular gay haunts, with its stylish interiors, friendly-as-you-like staff, and extensive range of cocktails (and no-nonsense, delicious food menu!).

Delmonicas, Scotland

Scotland (www.cometoscotland.com/)
Delmonicas (www.delmonicas.com)
Delmonicas' ethos is fun, fun (and more fun), and if there's anything Glasgow's gay scene is synonymous with, it's just that. Spread over two levels, with entertainment provided seven days a week, expect nothing short of a great time in this gay Glasgow favourite. Their weekly karaoke event, incidentally, is nothing short of a major event!
