Miss Potter
Day 1: Coniston & Hawkshead, Cumbria
Visit one of the filming sites for Miss Potter as you step into the front parlour of the Yew Tree Farm and find yourself warmly welcomed into the world of Beatrix Potter. Potter herself decorated the front tea room of the farm, which she opened to the public in 1933 as a means to supplement her tenant farmer's incomes during rough economic times. Wander the streets of Hawkshead, a tiny village of houses, archways, and squares that won the hearts of famous writers like Potter and William Wordsworth. Tucked within this quaint village is the Beatrix Potter Gallery, showcasing her original drawings, and Hill Top, the delightful 17th century house where Potter lived and wrote. A majestic location over Lake Windermere and the Langdale Fells is the perfect setting for Holbeck Ghyll. Celebrated as one of the Lake District's finest country house hotels, Holbeck Ghyll is an oasis of calm, surrounded by many acres of woodland and natural beauty. The hotel was Renee Zellweger's base during the filming of the movie.
